Modern design focuses on functionality, and eliminates the extra fluff (just think about the simple lines and colors popularly seen in Piet Mondrian’s work). Keep it simple with your drawer and cabinet fronts by going with a seamless flat-style cabinet. Avoid raised panels with intricate wood details. Shaker cabinets are typically used if you’re going for a more contemporary look that merges the modern and traditional.
