Closing overflowing suitcase of clothes

It can be difficult to pack when you’re going on vacation, especially if you’re trying to limit how much you take. At More Space Place, we’re all about helping you make things easier when it comes to storage and organization. See how to curate your wardrobe and make packing easier with these tips!

Research

Before selecting items to pack, you’ll want to check the weather and evaluate your itinerary. A nature retreat to a winter cabin will require different attire than a luxury retreat to Bali; let the weather help guide what kind of pieces you need to take.

Pro Tip: Find outfit inspiration by browsing fashion blogs of people who live in similar climates that you’re traveling to.

Start with the basics

After you’ve done a little bit of research, it’s time to start packing. Start with basic items such as underwear and socks. Some people will pack extras just in case, while others prefer to keep it as minimal as possible.

Pro Tip: Keep in mind that you may not need to take as much if you’ll have access to a washing machine.

Coordinate outfits

The key to traveling light is packing clothing that can create multiple outfits. When you’re packing, try to think about pieces that will work well with other items. For example, a simple pair of jean shorts will go with just about everything, while a patterned shirt with a unique silhouette may be harder to pair with other items that you’re taking. Sticking to a color theme can make it easier to curate your vacation wardrobe.

Pro Tip: Pick items in these three categories: statement, basic, and accessories. Basic items should be interchangeable with all statement items and accessories. Then you can use statement items with some basics or other statement pieces so you have outfits for different occasions.

Play dress up

Shop your closet by mixing items together that you may not have thought of or would normally wear. We know that it can be easy to get into a style rut day-to-day, so use your vacation as an excuse to try different things on. You may find a new favorite outfit that you wouldn’t have thought of initially.

Snap a picture

Save outfits that you would wear by taking a photo of yourself or artfully arrange outfits on your bed or floor. This will give you a catalog of outfits to choose from if you’re ever wondering what to wear while you’re away!

Pro Tip: Save the photos to a specific album so it’s easy to find. Some apps may also be able to help save outfit ideas.
