First, is size. Usually, a walk-in closet is larger than what’s called a reach-in closet. On the smaller end, a walk-in closet can be as small as 4 feet deep at 4 feet wide. They are usually larger and may even be as large as a bedroom. On average, a walk-in closet is usually at least 5 feet deep and 8 feet wide.
Cost

As we mentioned earlier, reach-ins are another type of closet. The key differences are the size and how you access items. Reach-in closets can be wardrobes or free standing units and are often used as children’s closets, linen closets, and coat closets. Items are accessed by reaching inside. Walk-ins tend to be larger and may even be a converted spare room. To access items, you usually need to walk into the closet.
